Dr. Nara, women health specialist with patientSince 2008, Sihanouk Hospital Center of HOPE has partnered with AmeriCares and AstraZeneca to deliver the country’s only comprehensive program that provides preventative education, screening services such as digital mammography and breast ultrasounds and treatment- often mastectomies combined with donated medication to treat hormone receptor positive women.The program deploys a team of peer-educators who do outreach in their villages and provide assistance to encourage women to seek early treatment for symptoms.SHCH’s newest program is the Women’s Clinic. Established to provide access to care for poor women, the clinic launched operations with a research study to determine the prevalence of cervical abnormalities. The study screened 500 HIV(+) women and 500 HIV(-) women and will publish data in 2016.   Now, the clinic sees approximately 15 women a day for a variety of women’s health problems.
